A Big Week for Sophie

The past week has been very big for Sophie. First, she got her first piece of official government mail with her Social Security number. She is now an official American person (and, more importantly, now Daddy's favorite tax deduction)!

On Tuesday she went back to the doctor for her 2 month check-up, which is the first appointment with any shots, in this case 4. The good news is that she is now safe from Polio- the bad news is that she was not such a big fan of obtaining that protection. She let out a cry that we have never heard from her when she got the shots. Upon reflection, though, I guess that makes sense. That was literally the first time in her entire life that she had felt any pain, so it is reasonable that it would be the first time she cried that cry. Nonetheless, she actually responded to it quite well and was right as rain in very short order. Below is a picture of her first wound.

We have also been working with her on taking a bottle this week. The results have been mixed. Some days she seems to not mind so much, but other days she would rather not eat at all than stick the stupid bottle in her mouth. What she doesn't know, though, is that her mommy & daddy have more patience and a greater strength of will than she does (well, daddy does anyway...).

She also watched her first television this week. We have no plans at all to rush her into watching TV, but we have all those Baby Einstein DVD's and wanted to know if they would hold her attention any. The results are found below:

Finally, she learned to type this week, and sends along the following message:
"gbghjiy7uikjmhj,m"
