Two nights ago was one of the worst storms that has hit Lexington in several years. Heavy winds, lot of damage, etc... Both at our house and at the tennis club, the power stayed on and we had no damage.
Last night we had a follow up. On & off sprinkles accompanied by a light breeze. Apparently this was enough to throw our entire power grid into disarray and subsequently the tennis club (along with 28,000 other customers) lost power. Have you even been in a 150,000 square foot building when it doesn't have power? It's eerily creepy. The emergency lights cast a strange glow in weird places and left disconcerting shadows everywhere. As the manager, simply seeing my business without customers in it is, well, not something I want to see again!
Sadly, our little electrical snafu interrupted a visit with Jan Deener, who had brought baby Max into town and was hanging out with us for the evening. It was nice to see them, and I wish I didn't have to run out, but, alas, she of all people understood why!
