The Lakehouse

We took our semi-annual trip to "the lakehouse" this weekend. I have to use quotes there, as it is not our lakehouse, no matter how much we sometimes feel like it is. In any case, we love it like it is ours and are, as always, extremely grateful to Lyne & Bob for letting us use it. The fact is, there isn't exactly much to the lakehouse. It's rather rundown & musty, and Herrington Lake is a cross between a ditch and a river. In other words- it's perfect.

Time stands still when we're there. I know that's a cliche, but a weekend there feels like a week's vacation, sometimes more. I feel more refreshed after a few days there than I do after a week anywhere else. Maybe it's the cows.

Anyway, this was probably our favorite trip there yet. Sophie has now reached age where she is, well, fun. Not that she wasn't fun before, but now she's participation fun. So, here are a few of the highlights from our weekend...

Truth be told, I have literally never been more proud of her than I was in this moment:

Sophie loves the slide:

She is also now a big fan of ducks:

And we had to explain to her that sometimes when a mommy duck and a daddy duck love each other very much, this happens:

Glad you had a nice time away together. Sophie is growing up so fast. I had to watch the video on youtube to understand that she was actually saying Wrigley. I thought she was saying "Wiggley" and wondered why Dan was so proud of that. Have fun taking her to the ballpark!
