Monday Night Cubs

I thought I would do a little Cubs blogging while watching them play the Mets on a Monday night...

Did any of you see the WGN special "Cubs Forever" on Saturday night? I missed the first 20 minutes or so but caught the rest and found it the most enjoyable 40 minutes of television I've watched in a long time. Unlike most Cubs specials I've seen, this one didn't dwell on the negative but was fun, positive, uplifting and hopeful. It is going to air again on WGN on May 3 at 8:00 ET if you didn't get a chance to see it.

I told Nancy this earlier, but it seems like emotionally I'm really invested in this season. I can't explain why, but it just seems like this is the year, it has to be the year. As much as I love the Cubs, I've never made a point to check in during every game, every day, every inning, like I am this year. I'm considering getting the MLB radio package so that I can listen to their games on my computer at work. Or maybe get satellite radio. I'm even growing to appreciate Sweet Lou. It's safe to say that I've gone all in and April hasn't even ended yet. It's going to be a looong summer (fortunately, it seems like they're pretty good so far!).

To answer your question, yes, I have purchased the song "Go Cubs Go." I just about have all the verses memorized and have begun singing it to Sophie. We dance and have fun with it. My goal is to have that be the first song she knows. I know, I know.

Big Z looks good tonight.

The Cubs took over first place in the NL Central last night. Unlike last year, that is a distinction that actually means something. At this early point in the season, the NL Central is the strongest division in baseball. I know that this means there is going to be some serious beating up of one another throughout the season (we can't play the Pirates every game, unfortunately).

So, in short, Go Cubs Go!

Just remember, the bigger the investment the greater the disappointment. Don't say I didn't warn you!

You're absolutely right. It's going to be a long season and (hopefully?) a stressful fall.
